Goodies by mail.

February 14, 2011

When I posted pictures of my valentine’s day treat on my facebook I made quite a few out of town friends pretty green with envy! So out of curiosity I went on a search for places that people could find tasty vegan goodies online and have it sent to their door. Hopefully in time I will be able to give full reviews, but for now here are the places that seem really interesting to me.

I’ve actually been to Sweet Freedom in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the people who run it are always a pleasure. Can you say vegan magic coconut bars without drooling? I can’t. Their ordering minimum is $40, but if you have vegan friends or are daring enough to freeze your goods to make them last they are definitely worth a try. Gluten free, vegan, and nut free.  http://www.sweetfreedombakery.com/delivery.html

Emily’s desserts comes from Baltimore Maryland, so I may be able to try them soon. Their online ordering isn’t up yet but it should be soon so definitely check back. http://www.emilysdesserts.com/index.php#

Giana’s grill is also in Philadelphia, so I will be doing a taste test of these guys soon. They just opened up their online store for their cakes and pies. Personally I like to order a bunch of small things to try or have for people and at $45 a pop it’s a bit steep but it may still be of interest to some people. For those of us not allergic to peanuts the peanut butter bomb cake looks pretty awesome. http://www.giannasgrille.com/gorder.html

Alison’s gourmet from Nevada City, California offers award winning fair trade cookies, brownies, fudge and other confections. They offer monthly club memberships and a $25 sample pack  of cookies ( roughly $2.12 per cookie) Personally their java crunch fudge would be the thing I’d most like to try followed closely by their salted vanilla caramels ($10 for 3.5 oz) http://www.allisonsgourmet.com/

Every day gourmet, located in Sodus New York offers pies, cakes, brownies, and cookies and has low/no sugar options. Decently priced (a dozen 3×3 brownies for $20, vegan pumpkin pie for $12) http://www.mcssl.com/store/everydaygourmet/catalog/search

Babycakes NYC is a vegan gluten free bakery. They offer anything from scones to cinnamon buns and most things are reasonably priced for such a specialty shop. (cookies are $1.50 each, cinnamon buns are $5, brownies are $11-$16 a dozen)  The double chocolate crumb cake  sounds mighty tasty! http://www.babycakesnyc.com/menu.html

X’s to O’s is also in New York and  their specialty seems to be a veganised version of a twinkie called a canoe boat. The strawberries and cream version of it is calling my name and at $3.75 a pair it’s very tempting!. http://xoxoveganbakery.bigcartel.com/

Earth Cafe has locations all over the United States won  a foodie award for best raw goodies in 2010, and is definitely at the top of my list of things to sample. They offer raw cheesecake in a variety of flavors for $35 and a sampler for $37 . My top pick to order? Blueberry thrill. 🙂  https://earthcafetogo.com/
